Overview

Designed by Honda R&D Americas, the first Ridgeline combined a fully boxed unibody-ladder hybrid structure with a fully independent suspension, a 3.5-liter V6 (247 hp, later 250 hp) and VTM-4 all-wheel drive. Signature features included a dual-action tailgate, a composite half-ton bed and an 8.5 cubic-foot lockable, drainable in-bed trunk - an industry first.

The truck was rated for 5,000 lb of towing and carried 1,475-1,559 lb of payload. Trims in the US were RT, RTS, RTL, plus RTX (2007), Sport (2012) and SE (2014); Canada had seven trims from DX to Touring.

Honda built Ridgelines at Alliston, Ontario until 2009 and Lincoln, Alabama from 2008. Honda said it aimed at the 18% of Honda owners who also own pickups.
