B-Series (4th Gen)
The fourth-generation B-Series (UF, US MY1986-1993) was a Japanese-built compact with 2.0, 2.2 and 2.6-liter fours, a Cab Plus extended cab and a J.D. Power customer-satisfaction streak. From 1994 the US B-Series became a rebadged Ford Ranger.

Overview
Mazda's UF-generation pickup reached the US as a 1986 model after more than $100 million of development. The first lineup was the 2WD B2000 and the 4x4 B2600 with a Mitsubishi 2.6-liter four; the B2200 replaced the B2000 for 1987 and, for 1989, Mazda's own fuel-injected 2.6-liter G6 produced 121 hp in the B2600i.
Standard and Cab Plus extended cab bodies were offered, with trims base, SE-5 (the sporty one with big stripes and white-letter tires) and LX, which was renamed LE-5 for 1990-93. Mazda trucks topped J.D. Power's customer satisfaction ratings for three consecutive years from 1986.
For 1994 Mazda switched to selling a Ford Ranger with Mazda badges, built in Minnesota, to avoid the chicken tax - so the Japanese-built trucks ended after 1993 in the US even though the UF continued abroad until 1998-99.
