Overview

When the TF-based Isuzu Pickup ended in 1996, Isuzu replaced it with the Hombre - a Louisiana-built Chevrolet S-10 with distinct front fenders, flared rear quarters, lights, grille and bumper based on the Brazilian S-10 design.

It came in two trims: base S and the up-level XS with cassette deck, better upholstery, tachometer, sliding rear window and a 60/40 seat. Equipment choice was narrower than the S-10; a Spacecab extended cab and the V6 were added for 1997 and 4WD for 1998 (EPA), and all three were still offered in the 1999 brochure. The Hombre got the 1998 S-10 refresh too.

Slow sales led to the end of production in 2000, and it was six years before Isuzu returned with the i-Series.
